Welcome everyone to Active With Abby x Serene Strength!

This blog will be a little different as it is my first collaborative blog!! I’m excited to not only talk about an important aspect of running but also highlight a fellow creator and fitness enthusiast! Before we jump into content from Olivia and her brand, I want to quickly touch on how weightlifting and running can be beneficial to your fitness journey.

A Combination of Both

Weightlifting and running can both be daunting, especially if you are just starting out. They’re often viewed as opposites with running being mainly a high-intensity cardio exercise and weightlifting being more focused on building muscle. However, these two aspects of fitness can be used in tandem to help you level up your fitness. Here are some of the benefits of combining weightlifting and running:

  1. Cardiovascular fitness: When you start to run regularly, you are helping your heart grow stronger and more efficient. This is seen through improved circulation and lung capacity. A stronger heart can help you maintain longer lifting sessions and quicker recovery between sets, ultimately making gym sessions more effective.
  2. Building up muscle strength: Weightlifting creates both muscle growth and muscle endurance, and these are key to running sustainably. Stronger muscles allow for a reduced risk of injury when running. Doing exercises like squats and lunges can help with hill climbs and sprints while core exercises can help with stability and form.
  3. Body Composition: This combination of weightlifting and running can lead to higher metabolism, better bone density and an overall healthier disposition.

Serene Strength

Now, if you’re like me, you don’t know much about weightlifting or where to start really. This is where Serene Strength comes in! Olivia’s content is mainly centered around weightlifting, so it’s a perfect place to start. Specifically, I want to highlight her blog “Workout Plan When You Have No Time.” She lays out a workout plan that you can easily follow each week. It’s especially great because she includes warmups, cooldowns and ways to check your form, so you have a well-rounded routine each day. The plan also makes sure to build in active rest days which are just as important! If you’re looking for an introduction to weightlifting, make sure to check out Serene Strength! Also be sure to follow her on all of her social media!

We’re in this together, so if you have any workout plans or tips of your own, feel free to share them in the comments below or in my contact form!
