What is Corepower Yoga?

This blog is dedicated to one of my favorite spots now! I discovered it with some friends over this past summer and have stuck with it since. Corepower Yoga is a studio with multiple locations across the U.S. that offers a variety of workout classes. You can find functional strength training, yoga, hot yoga and restorative classes, and no experience is required. You can get a free week of unlimited classes if you’re new which is a great way to try out all of the different class options. All you need is a yoga mat, water bottle and towel. If you don’t have a mat or towel, they provide them at the studio!

Corepower is not only a great workout, but it’s also a great way to get inspiration for your own workout routines. I find that I’ll do an exercise in class that I’ve never done before, and I’ll add it to my routine in the gym. The instructors are amazing and are so accommodating of newcomers and beginners. The option to modify is always made known, and the instructors are willing to help you fix your form or make suggestions.

I’ve only done two types of classes at Corepower, so I’ll review my experience in those. I tend to stick with what I like. However, I do want to try out the other classes that are offered. Let me know if you’ve tried out the other ones!

Yoga Sculpt

The class that I started out with was the Yoga Sculpt class. This class combines yoga, cardio and strength training and creates a well-rounded workout each time. Coming into Corepower, I was a little nervous because I had never done hot yoga before. I ended up loving it! Depending on the instructor, the room is usually kept between 88-91 degrees, so be prepared to quite literally be drenched in sweat by the end. I really like how you still get to do some of those classic yoga poses, like down dog, child’s pose, chair pose, etc., but add on with weights. The routine is repetitive to the point where you feel the burn and can catch on to the movements but not so much that the routine becomes boring.

You really get to work every muscle group in Yoga Sculpt which is why I gravitate toward it. A lot of the movements are compound exercises, so you’re working multiple muscle groups at the same time. Some of the movements mirror Pilates in that there are pulses and smaller ranges of motion in some exercises. There is also a cardio burst halfway through class that’ll get your heart rate up if it wasn’t already. Overall, I like the efficiency and diversity in movement at Yoga Sculpt. You can choose between a 45-min class and 60-min class.

Corepower Strength X

The other class I’ve come to love is Corepower Strength X. These classes are focused solely on functional strength training, so you won’t be doing the yoga combinations like in Yoga Sculpt. Here, you are encouraged to grab heavier weights for each exercise. Since it’s a little more intense, the heat is low at Strength X classes and they are only 45 minutes. You can expect to go through two weighted circuits with a little cardio break and ab workout at the end, so you’re still getting a variety of movement. You can find full body Strength X classes, upper body and lower body. Personally, I’ve been wanting to strength train more, so these classes are a perfect start. I find them challenging enough to where I feel motivated to come back and see my improvement.

All in all, Corepower Yoga is a great place to check out if you’re looking for group workout classes. It is definitely beginner-friendly, and you can find all types of workouts that suit your interests/needs. Be sure to take advantage of that free first week! I love starting my mornings here, and I hope you try it out. Take your friends or do it by yourself; it’s enjoyable either way. To all my people in Nashville, if you want to try it out let me know in my contact form! I go to the Green Hills one and  would love to go with you!

If you’re not already, be sure to subscribe to my email list to get weekly updates and other fun content!

Pro tips:

  • Get to the classes early! They open the doors 15 minutes before the class starts and I would suggest getting there as soon as the doors open or even before. At least in the Green Hills location, the class can fill up quick and it can be hard to find a spot if you come in later. If you’re coming with friends and want to stay together, get there early too!
  • Get a yoga mat towel. It’s a game changer especially with hot yoga because it prevents you from slipping on your mat.
  • Corepower offers discounts for students, nurses, doctors, teachers, seniors, military and first responders. Definitely check out their special pricing if you fall under those categories and want to get a membership.
